2016 Accomplishments

Here are some of our most productive activities this year in order of occurrence:

Downtown Arlington Business Brochures –  Then came Phase Two – Development and distribution of 25,000 copies of a new 2016 brochure to be distributed throughout Washington State starting in August 2016. This brochure not only benefits Arlington by attracting visitors – it also brings new business to our merchants located specifically within the footprint of Historic Downtown Arlington.

Downtown “Show-n-Shine” 2016 – Although the weather was slightly damp….. the 2016 event continued to bring nearly 5000 visitors and 182 Registered Classic Cars, Hot Rods and Rat Rods.   Thanks again to Dwayne Lanes and all the local Show-n-Shine Sponsors for your continued support for this event.

Downtown Arlington Street Fair –  This annual 3 day event again brought in over 100 unique vendors and thousands of visitors to Arlington. Businesses  again reported an increase of patronage and sales compared to previous years. Thanks again to our 4th year  Street Fair Chairwoman and Country Rose Owner Kathleen Shalan.

America’s Best Community Competition – Although Arlington – Darrington was successful in being selected one of the Top 8 City’s in this competition – the Top Honors went to Huntington, West Virginia.  DABA was a stakeholder in this competition and the honor of being selected one of the Top 8 is something to be proud of!   We look forward to working with the City of Arlington to continue with many of the initiatives identified through the competition that will help us grow and become a more inviting, sustainable business community.

2nd Annual Viking Fest & Pub Tour – The second year of this event was presented in September of 2016 and again brought many visitors to learn about a little known fact that Arlington has a Scandinavian heritage that actually goes back to the earliest and largest Scandinavian settlements on the west coast.

Hometown Holidays Shop Small Saturday Advertisement –  2016 was the 3rd year for this DABA exclusive advertising campaign. In 2015 it was decided that DABA would target the day after Black Friday to run our special ads. Leveraging with two papers DABA is able to work these advertisements out to be cost savings ads reserved exclusively as a benefit to DABA members, particularly those businesses who jump on board and sponsored this endeavor.

Hometown Holiday’s – The tradition continues in 2016 as again DABA joined together with the City to put on this event with the assistance of DABA Chairperson and Arlington Youth Dynamics Coordinator Jessica Ronhaar.
